What is LASIK?

LASIK (Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis) is a minimally invasive laser procedure that reshapes the cornea to correct nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), and astigmatism. The goal of LASIK is to improve how light enters the eye, allowing for clearer, sharper vision without the need for glasses or contact lenses

Most patients experience rapid recovery and significant vision improvement within 24 to 48 hours after surgery.

The Benefits of LASIK

  • Quick recovery time, with many patients returning to normal activities the next day.
  • Long-lasting results, reducing the need for prescription glasses or contacts.
  • Minimally invasive procedure, with little to no discomfort.
  • Proven safety and effectiveness, with millions of successful procedures performed worldwide.

Are You a Candidate for LASIK?

Not everyone is eligible for LASIK. The best candidates for laser vision correction should:

  • Be at least 18 years old with a stable prescription for at least one year.
  • Have healthy corneas with sufficient thickness for safe reshaping.
  • Have no history of severe dry eye, keratoconus, or uncontrolled eye diseases.
  • Not be pregnant or nursing, as hormone changes can affect vision stability.

If you are not a candidate for LASIK, alternative options such as PRK, SMILE, or ICLs (implantable contact lenses) may be available.

Pre-Surgical LASIK Consultation & Evaluation

We conduct comprehensive LASIK evaluations to determine whether you are a suitable candidate for surgery. Your consultation includes:

  • Comprehensive eye exam to assess overall eye health and prescription stability.
  • Corneal topography & thickness measurements to evaluate if LASIK is safe for your eyes.
  • Dry eye assessment to ensure post-surgical comfort and minimize risks.
  • Discussion of lifestyle needs, expectations, and potential risks to help you make an informed decision.

If you qualify for LASIK or another refractive procedure, we will refer you to a trusted LASIK surgeon and coordinate your care before and after surgery.
